For This Child

Cross-Stitch Patterns

When you become a mother or father your life changes; no longer is your life focused on “doing whatever I want” but with a burst of joy we quickly realize our lives are not about us alone. It is about the new life we can feel moving inside, hear crying at night to be held, or see smiling when this child hears your voice.

Like Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:27, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him”, prayer never ceases as the child grows. In the constant act of a mother and father deepening their relationship with God through prayer, the will of self is surrendered with a deeper happiness to serve the good of others, of this child.

The Beatitudes

Cross-Stitch Patterns

“Blessed are…
the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,
those who mourn for they will be comforted
the meek for they will inherit the earth,
the merciful for they will be shown mercy
the pure of heart for they will see God,
the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God,
they who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3-10

The words in the Beatitudes are typographically designed to enhance their meaning in order to enrich our lives. I was inspired by the idea of nature; the nature around us that speaks of God’s creation, but also human nature. Jesus was speaking in the Beatitudes of how we are meant to live our lives. In many ways they tell us to deny our instinct toward comfort in order to receive clarity of mind and heart to hear the will of God.

Lord’s Prayer

Cross-Stitch Patterns

Inspired by a customer request, a new cross-stitch pattern has been created for the Lord’s Prayer.

Buy this pattern!

A new typographic design has been created to accommodate changing the wording to “debts/debtors” from “trespasses/trespass” (as seen in the Our Father | Cross-Stitch Pattern). Instead of just changing those words, this version also includes the words “for thine is the kingdom and the…”.

This pattern comes with a list of supplies needed, including the DMC floss colors used. A list of stitches used are given along with a brief tutorial. Graphs with  symbols, and a computerized rendering are accompanied with photographs of the finished example I stitched.

Stitch count dimensions:
135 stitches W x 205 stitches H
14 pt Aida cloth – 9.64″ x 14.64″
16 pt Aida cloth – 8.44″ x 12.8″

In this version, the wording for the Lord’s Prayer is as follows:

Our Father
who art in heaven
hallowed be they name
thy kingdom come
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil
for thine is the kingdom
and the power
and the glory
forever
amen.
